Sleeping Beauty
It's not your typical
animated version of "Sleeping Beauty." This
one has a kick. Well, several, as minions,
ninjas and an evil wizard try to capture the
fair Princess Fergie and make her prick her
finger on the country's only spinning wheel.
Written by Ben Farrar, this comedic version
of the classic fairy tale will open the
season forEl PasoKIDS-N-CO.,
the city's only theater targeted for
families. "Sleeping Beauty" opens at 7:30
p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at the KIDS-N-CO.
Education and Performance Center, 1301Texas Ave. Shows
continue through Oct. 30, 7:30 p.m. on
Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30 p.m. on
Sundays. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6
for children, students, seniors and active
military. Group discounts are available.
Call for advance ticket sales.
Director Jim Lupercio wanted a little more
action in this production and enlisted the
help of fight choreographer DannyRios, who also
did the fight choreography forUTEl
Paso's production of "The Three Musketeers."
Along with fight sequences, gaming
references run rampant throughout the
production.
Because Lupercio is a novice director,
long-time theater aficionado Chet Frame is
his mentor, providing guidance along the
way. El Paso High student AmyHammondrounds
out the creative crew as the assistant
director. COSTUME
